Actors for Autism is a leader in developing new and innovative programs in theatre, film-making and animation. We provide field trips to our Tarzana facility and school based programs to public, private, charter and home-school groups.

Actors for Autism is a unique organization that provides quality Arts Education for children and adults. We offer in school and after school programs for elementary school, middle school and high school children. We are proud to say that we are approved providers of Los Angeles Unified School District.

Professional Development
Actors for Autism is proud to offer one of the MOST INNOVATIVE professional development workshops for educators in Southern California. Do you have children with autism or special needs in your class this year? More and more children on the spectrum are being integrated into theatre. You will learn how to integrate these children into your already existing program or create a program of your own. This is a hands on interactive fun workshop! You will not be sitting in a chair for this one...be prepared to move! This is a wonderfully creative and renewing Professional Development workshop for K-12 teachers that follows the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards! Professional Development is available for 2 hour, 4 hour and 6 hour sessions.

AFA Certified Trainer - Level I
The AFA Certified Training Course is a one day course that trains individuals in the Actors for Autism method. Learn how to teach communication and socialization skills through the arts. Learn how to integrate children into your program. Acting: For Kids on the Autistic Spectrum is a required book for this course and can be purchased online through Amazon.com or at the workshop. This is a hands on workshop is innovative and interactive. Be prepared to move! Participants are awarded a certificate upon completion.

AFA Certified Trainer - Level II
The Advanced AFA Certified Training Course is a one day course that expands on the level I training. Learn how to create a program for your students using our curriculum and integrating the arts. Learn how to write goals and objectives that follow the National Standards for the Arts while simulataneously incorporating communication and socialization skills. Acting: For Kids on the Autistic Spectrum is a required book for this course and can be purchased online through Amazon.com or at the workshop. This is a hands on interactive workshop. Participants are awarded a certificate upon completion.

Description of Network Partner: Actors for Autism is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement training and education of children.  We teach children WITH and WITHOUT disabilities. We have a long track record of creating amazing showcases and performances. Alisa Wolf has been in the industry since the age of five and has recruited only the best instructors in the industry who have a diverse background. Our celebrity advisory board consists of experts in their field. They include: Joe Mantegna (Joan of Arcadia), John Scheider (Smallville), John Landis (Blues Brothers), Bobby Moresco (CRASH), Greg Evigan (Desperate Housewives) and Dave Clark (K-CAL NEWS).
 
Description of Arts Learning Plan: The program starts with an exciting pre-field trip to Actors for Autism theatre. Students and teachers will have an opportunity to tour our facility and perform on our stage!  This is followed by workshops in your school which is based on the four basic domains of learning: Cognitive, Sensory, Psychomotor and Affective. It also incorporates VAPA and English-Language Arts Content Standards. Teachers also get to attend an incredibly motivating professional development at Actors for Autism theatre on a selected Saturday, and are paid a training rate for their participation.
 
Instructional: After the students and teachers have experienced our theatre, our expert instructors will conduct theatre workshops in your school. Students learn the fundamentals of acting and acting for the camera.  In the post-field trip workshop the general content of the program is summarized and there is a performance by the students.  instructional time is motivating, educational and most of all EXCITING for your students!
 
Performance/Exhibition/Demonstration: We begin by engaging students with activities that spark their creativity!  We incorporate monologues, performances and scenes which have educational and historical value in many different genres. 
 
Professional Development: Actors for Autism will offer LAUSD teachers training and pay  participating teachers so that they can have fun on stage while they learn.  These 2-hour workshops use elements of theatre and gives LAUSD teachers skills that they can utilize while working with the diverse population of students in LAUSD. Fun and exciting!
 
Collaborative Planning/Meetings: Actors for Autism will work with your school staff to schedule your program.  We help coordinate and plan for your field trips to the Actors for Autism theatre.  We customize each program by having staff fill out both a pre and post questionnaire so that we can ensure a successful experience! 
 
Offsite/Field Trip: Students come to Actors for Autism facility (theatre).  Please see description above.  Two (2) buses at no cost to school.
 
Resources: Teachers are given a curriculum book that has improv games, warm-ups and character building exercises that follow the state standards.  Many of these have been modified to work with a diverse population.  In addition, handouts are given to all students with theatre resources.
